ABOUT ME
My name is Erin Dix ‘17 I am a nursing major at Elmira College. While in photography class, I learned a lot from beginning to end, starting with the different type of camera to using photoshop with digital pictures. Although there were a few challenges, it was truly a great experience. At first I was confused about the different apertures on the camera, but playing around with it and taking different shots for the first roll of film helped me to realize the differences and how to use it. Next, I think developing the film was an easier task. With the different times of agitation and loading the film on a reel, the dark room work got easier over time. Furthermore, printing my pictures was a little more difficult. The correct exposure was very difficult for me to figure out as well as the correct contrast in the photo. This class has taught me a lot with critiquing other photos as well. It has given me a different understanding of camera vision, such as using different depths of field and shutter speed. One of my successes was photographing at night. Holding the camera absolutely still with a longer shutter speed helped me become successful in my night shots.
